The new Ad of the Day for Guinness by Stink director John Hillcoat

The ads, part of Guinness’ overarching “Made of More” campaign, debut ahead of the Rugby World Cup. (Guinness has long sponsored the sport in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.)

Ruby legends Gareth Thomas, the former Wales captain who came out as gay in 2009, and Ashwin Willemse, who escaped the deadly gang life in South Africa for the rugged glory of the pitch, make stirring subjects. Expertly shot by Australian director John Hillcoat, whose experience on gritty action features like The Road and Lawless serves him well here. In less capable hands, the mix of rough-and-tumble rugby action, dramatizations and interviews might feel contrived or too sentimental, but Hillcoat gets the proportions and pacing absolutely right.

This epic spot directed by Wally Pfsiser was edited by Stitch’s own Andy McGraw, it’s Ad Of The Day on AdWeek – Droga5’s latest work for Under Armour illustrates that fact in a mesmerizing way, showing three of today’s top stars as armies of themselves, sweating and perfecting their moves, whether it’s from behind the three-point line or under a theatrical spotlight.

M ss ng p eces announce a new addition to their roster, the awesome young duo Henry & Ssong!

You know them from the award-winning Google Homeward Bound spot and this Hozier music video. (both with millions of views) We’ve been working for them for the past few months on the Cannes winning Delta Innovation Class campaign and more recently this moving Amex doc on Tiny Superheroes.

Compassionate global storytellers, Henry and Ssong blend warm visuals with moving narratives to craft films that inspire. Their naturalistic approach and utmost respect for their subjects evoke a truly human touch, proving these two young craftsmen are masters.

Henry Chen & Ssong Yang first teamed up at the Rhode Island School of Design where they learned to explore, discover, and create. They galvanized around both the idea of human expression and also a focus on global and compelling stories that need to be told. Last year, they traveled to India to direct SarooBrierley: Homeward Bound, an award-winning short spot for Google that has over a million views and awarded the prestigious Young Directors Award at Cannes, won the AdStar Silver Innovation Award (2013), screened at Google Zeitgeist 2013, and was one of TED’s “10 Ads Worth Spreading” of 2014. The short is currently being developed into a feature film.
