On January 8th, David Bowie released his 25th studio album, Blackstar (stylized as ★) on his 69th birthday.

In a similar process to Bowie and Visconti’s previous collaboration, The Next Day, the basic tracks for Blackstar were recorded at The Magic Shop in NYC and further recording, vocals and mixing were done at Human’s New York studios, where Tony Visconti has been a resident since 2010.

“Produced with longtime collaborator Tony Visconti and cut with a small combo of New York-based jazz musicians whose sound is wreathed in arctic electronics, Blackstar is a ricochet of textural eccentricity and pictorial-shrapnel writing.” – Rolling Stone.

It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to this visionary soul that changed the DNA of music forever.
